If I Could Rule the World is a playful celebration of the excitement of starting out in the world, of enthusiasm and of youth. Scored for orchestra and girls' choir with solo piano and violin, the shape and spirit of the work springs from the content of the text - part silliness, part seriousness and part daydream. From purple cows and ice-cream for breakfast to never being afraid or alone, the text, provided by the students of Colaiste na Trocaire in Rathkeale, brings us on a journey which is in turn boisterous and contemplative. If I Could Rule the World was commissioned by Brian Woulfe in 2005.
